Thriftstore Snobs Anonymous

Hi, Im Myla and Im a
recovering thrift store snob.
("hi Myla", the circle of fellow offenders in folding chairs reply)

I was @ my lowest in high school, probably junior year. Suddenly it became "trendy" to slum it and those girls were stealing not only my style, but my stores! I tried to be open minded, Its not there fault they didn't grow up poor and classless. There mothers hadn't taught them to hide there finds Friday night under the cushion of the ugliest couch you could find, so that Saturday morning you could stroll into the half priced mad-ness, pick up your pile and check out 50% richer than you would have been the day before. Could I hold them accountable for the retail sins of there fathers?

Well Ive done a lot better later in life. I'm actually genuinely happy when someone else scores second hand treasures. But I have been holding out. About 7 months ago I discovered THE BEST THRIFT STORE in my opinion. And I only told one person about it…Christina dont you feel lucky?! And I only told her because I was bubbling over with joy and couldnt contain it any longer. But I of course swore her to secrecy. I since have been counting the days till my baby arrives, not only to welcome his heavenly spirit to our family, but so I can start shopping for things other than vintage moomoo's at my new found heaven.

And of course karma is biting me in the butt!

I got the news that Teidmanns will be closing in April…just about when I can start wearing things with waists.

So go..shop it up!
Dont mind me, I'll be sulking in the corner
and cursing you all quietly.

after my own heart

Sadie LOVES getting dressed. Wait, that's a lie, let me try again.
 Sadie loves getting HERSELF dressed.
Sometimes this results in awesome rainbow bright style confections.
On these occasions I just laugh to myself as she tip toes to class.
Today, imagine my delight when she re-purposed an accessory!!
"Do you think its ok if I wear my headband for a belt today?"
"Do I look like a fashion girl?" she questioned as I glowed with pride.
I grabbed my camera to document this momentous occasion.
My spawn…she's original, she's a risk taker, she's creative! She's adorable :)
while us girls were twirling/voguing/flashing photos ect...
dun dun duhhhhhn(ominouse organ music)
Linc decided to take an impromptu trike tour through my living room.
He made a break for it as soon as he spotted me hot on his tracks.

Today is my baby daddy's birthday….

Back when we were immature newly weds we used to pass notes to each other @ church. (now we, and by we I mean Jim, color with our kids.) Usually these notes consisted of ridiculing a nose picking child or silly poems using our names & character traits.     So this ones for you babe-
Jenerouse  - Jim is the ying to my stingy yang. He is always willing to give and help out just about anybody and their dog. I hope that by clinching my fists and keeping my mouth shut I get some residual blessings from his acts of kindness.
amazing- This man has single handedly re-floored, re-painted (in & out) re-wired, re-tiled, re-plumbed, re-landscaped…RE-DESIGNED my home. He learned as he went and worked his butt off to give me my "dream house"
manly man - This goes without saying. I think his picture is currently on a roll of paper towels in your pantry. Sadie calls him our "Gaston" and is quite smitten with him.He moves piano's for heaven's sake! And my children love that he can fling them carlessly in the air and I love that he brings them safely back down. His never ending broad shoulders create the safest hug in the world and have provided my babies with a loving napping spot for 5 years now.
entertaining - Jim is usually the life of the party. Whether is providing slightly inappropriate comments that get a room full of  adults giggling or guiding a lizard hunt through the park for hunters age 5 and under , Jim knows how to keep us all on our toes. There's never a dull moment.
serenade - His first serenade to me started with  Marvin Gaye and a silk kimono robe and ended with a diamond ring and scotch tape. I'll let you fill in the details. But to this day my man loves to provide me with a good serenade, and I lovingly try to sustain eye contact while keeping a straight face.
Happy Birthday Jim

overdue

I should have known better.I kept telling myself  & others that our "package" would be arriving @ the end of Feb.  My last babes were 2 weeks early and a meaty 8 1/2 #'s…this guy will follow suit. Right!?
a morning pajama bike ride
Wrong…Im only 3 days overdue, but it feels like 2 weeks & 3 days. "Any day now" is my new mantra. Subsequently we've been taking LOTS of walks, going on LOTS of bike rides, and consuming LOTS of spicy food. Not sure the last one even results in my intended outcome, but I LOVE me some Jalisco's!!
Pip Squeak along for the ride
